interested in faith
We have found that many people want to find out more about the Christian faith but do not necessarily want to ‘go to church’. Firstlink is a ministry that gives opportunity for new Christians or those who are just looking to find out more about the Christian faith. Also from time to time we run what is called an ‘Alpha Course’.
There are now thousands of Alpha Courses running all over the world, and they have impacted many lives. Alpha explains the basics of what Christians believe. We promise no singing, no praying and definitely no pressure!! We are also running a youth version called ‘the word ground level’
Missions
Missionaries abroad
We have a desire to be a community church in every way both globally and locally. We are currently involved in a number of projects and missions both in the UK and abroad, and our desire is to be even more effective and extensive in the future.
Our aim is to support Christian workers in every continent. We are currently involved in projects and mission work in Uganda, Brazil, Philippines, Slovakia and we support leadership and missions training in Africa and Asia. We recently took a team of 16 young People to Slovakia on mission and had an amazing time in the schools there teaching english and were thrilled to see over 200 young people come to our Christian rock café in the evenings.
Local Community
We have people in our church who are involved with a homeless project at the YMCA in Walthamstow called ‘The Branches’ which provides a much needed drop-in centre and soup kitchen. One of our members works full time at a Christian drug rehabilitation centre in Ilford called Teen Challenge.
the bridge
In Sept 2004 we opened the Bridge Community Venue in South Woodford which aims to re-engage church with the community. The Bridge has become the heart and soul of the church and we believe it expresses the heart of God and the essential purpose of the church.
